This is a course designed to familiarize students with Bible lands (Israel, Jordan, Egypt and some neighboring countries) and God’s people who lived in the past. We will study the people of Israel’s history, culture, worldview, religion and worship practices. The geography of Israel and the impact on the other ancient civilizations and world empires around Israel will also be covered. Ancient Israel will be studied from the twin perspectives of its social history and its religion and faith.

The course will cover 5 main areas of study:
a. People Who Lived Around the Ancient Israel – Ancient Civilizations.
b. The Land Where the Ancient Israelites Lived – Physical Geography.
c. How Did the Ancient Israelites Live? – Social History of Ancient Israel
d. How Did the Ancient Israelites Worship? – OT Religion and Worship
e. How and What Did the Ancient Israelites Think and Believe in? – Hebrew Poetry, Hebrew Thinking and Thought World.

Lecturer: Dr. Anthony Loke, PhD.
Dr. Anthony Loke is an independent researcher, writer, lecturer, and preacher. He has been a pastor for 32 years and out of it 19 years as a full-time lecturer in a local seminary. He has authored 10 books to date. He holds a PhD in Old Testament from the University of Wales, UK.
